Acer mandshuricum Maxim.

낙엽성 작은 교목. 높이 10m. 겨울눈 및 소지 뾰족하며 아린 수가 많다. 소지는 털이 없으며 적갈색이다. 잎 마주나기, 소엽은 3개, 긴타원형, 타원상 피침형, 점첨두, 예형, 소엽 크기는 5-10cm × 1.5-2.5cm, 어릴 때에는 주맥에 털이 많이 발달하지만 점차적으로 탈락한다. 10-12개의 톱니가 있고 표면은 짙은 녹색, 뒷면은 회색, 소엽 자루는 길이 5mm, 잎자루는 털이 없고 붉은빛이 돌며 길이는 7-8cm로 매우 길다. 꽃 암수딴그루(dioecious), 가지 끝의 취산꽃차례 (산형꽃차례)에 3-4(5)개의 꽃이 달리며, 작은 꽃자루 길이는 15-17mm이다. 꽃은 황록색이며 꽃잎은 5mm, 수술은 7-8mm로 꽃잎보다 길다. 꽃잎과 꽃받침 모두 5장이다. 수술은 10개이다. 열매 및 종자 털이 없으며 둔각 또는 거의 직각이며, 길이 30-35mm이다.
